Pre-treatment : This section is more suitable for the larger raw materials in the early stage, and it is not easy to directly crush or granulate through the crusher. But sometimes this section can be omitted. For example, the sawdust pellet production line can directly pelletize, and this section is not needed.

Crushing Section : This section is usually used in biomass pellet production line, forage gress pellet production line and nutshell straw pellet production line. For example, the SFSP hammer mill is used for wood and fruit shells, and the straw/alfalfa/husk/grass crusher is used for grass and straw. Different raw materials are equipped with different types of crusher.

Conveying Section : Conveying equipment is mechanical equipment that transports bulk cargo and unit goods from a loading point to an unloading point along a certain route in a continuous manner. The conveying equipment of RICHI machinery includes screw conveyor, scraper conveyor, belt conveyor and Bucket elevator.

Drying Section : To dry materials and remove the moisture from 50% to 15-17%. Itincludes: --Burningstove,tosupplyhotair --Drumdryer --Dischargingcyclone.

Pellet Mill: Wood pellet machine, also known as biomass pellet machine, has a wide range of raw materials: straw shells include wood, straw, sawdust, cotton stalks, rice husks, peanut shells, sunflower shells, coconut shells, coffee shells, bamboo, etc. . The grasses are alfalfa, hops, hemp, hay, grass, etc. In addition, there are organic fertilizer granulator, cat litter granulator and so on.

Cooling & Section : Pellets come out from pellet machine, its temperature is around 70℃, by cooling system, It can cool down to room temperature immediately. By momentary cooling, the hardness of pellets will become more stronger.

Screening Section : The forming rate of pellet machine is around 98 % , so there are still have 2% powder in pellets,by screening, sort out all the powders from pellets.

Packaging Section : There are three kinds of automatic packaging machines produced by RICHI machinery: powder packaging machines, granule packaging machines and (universal) dual-purpose packaging machines.

Dust Control System : A dust collection system is an air quality improvement system used in industrial production to improve breathable air quality and safety by removing particulate matter from the air and environment. Dust collection systems work on the basic formula of capture, convey and collect.

Production Line Description

Pine Wood

With the continuous decrease of fossil energy, human demand for biomass energy is increasing. Therefore, biomass energy has become the second largest commercial renewable energy in the world today. Due to the characteristics of low cost, low pollution and high calorific value, many companies pay attention and recognition. pine wood and sawdust residue can be made into pellets as a substitute for fossil fuels, used in power plants, boiler fuels, boiler fuels, animal bedding, etc.

Pine Raw Materials

Pines are evergreen trees. They distributes in Northern Hemisphere, such as North America, Europe, Russia and China. Most species of pines can reach 15-45 meters tall. They are long-lived. Pine wood has many commercial uses. It is an excellent material to produce high-value woodworking, like furniture, floor, panels, etc.

In wood processing industries, there are usually large quantities of sawdust, wood powders, wood chips, wood shavings. Making them into wood pellets can solve wastes and create value. Compared with directly burning wood wastes, wood pellets has 80% higher combustion efficiency and less pollutant emission.

table1 Analysis of the fuel characteristics of pine and other trees

In the above table 1, these parameters of forest (poplar, pine, fir, beech) are carefully analyzed. From the results, it can be said that the heating values of pine and mixture of pine with fir grinds are slightly higher than that of poplar and beech grinds. Pine grind has the highest NCV of 20.082 kj/g. Bulk density of forest residue grind is significant. Poplar and pine grinds determine 24.18% and 24.59% moisture, respectively. Low ash content is also crucial to the combustion process, just as very strict ash deposition limits in some countries have been adopted.

How To Make Pine Wood Pellets With Pellet Machine?

In order to get the final products with premium quality, we should pay attention to the manufacturing processes. Each step must be carried out with care, which involve pine wood grinding, drying, pelletizing, cooling, sieving and packaging.

Pine Wood Grinding

There are several equipment that can be used for this step depending on the type of raw materials you have.

Pine wood logs: If the raw materials are pine wood logs, pre-treating is necessary. First remove the bark from the wood log by the wood debarker. Then deliver the peeled wood to wood chipper, and get wood chips. Finally run through a wood hammer mill to reduce the particles to the required size. And the bark can be fed into the wood hammer mill directly.

Pine wood chips or sawdust: They are mainly from the sawmills. And they can be fed directly into the wood hammer mill without first being chipped.

Maintaining an appropriate moisture level in your raw materials is vital for overall quality of the final pellets. For the pine wood, the required moisture content for pelletizing is about 15%. Choosing the right moisture content enables you to save on energy costs. It is advisable to use a rotary drum dryer for moisture reduction.

This is one of the most important stages of making pine wood pellets, and the pellets are actually created in this step. In the pelletizing process, the sawdust is pressed into the holes of pellet mill die under extremely high pressure. The pressure creates heat that releases natural glue in the wood called lignin, which is naturally present in the wood acts as a glue to hold the pellet together. A blade is typically used to slice the pellet to a predefined length as it exits the die.

Notes: ring die pellet machine is for large scale production, and flat die pellet machine is for small scale production.

Pellets are quite hot and fairly soft when they leave the die, and the shape is not well formed. Therefore, they must be cooled and dried before use or being packed in order to comply with the quality requirements. The final moisture content of pine wood pellets is no higher than 8%. A counter-flow cooler is used for this purpose.

The sieving process is generally before the pellet packaging. After pelletizing, there are some superfine powders and coarse particles mixed with the final pellets. Thus a vibrating sieve is necessary here to filter out the unshaped materials from the finished products for reprocessing.

Once the pellets are formed and cooled, they are packaged in bags or stored in bulk. Please note that the pellets must be kept dry to prevent deterioration. Our semi-auto packing machine can packed the pellets according to your requirement.

Pine Wood Pellets Application

Heating: The pine wood pellets can replace wood, coal, crude oil, natural gas, for heating in hot water boilers, industrial boilers, furnace, etc. especially suitable for the high requirements of environmental protection and energy saving users.

Electricity generating: The pellets can be used in power plants to generate electricity. They are good fuel source to replace coal because of their high heat value and environmental protection.

Cat littering: Pine wood pellets have strong absorbency, the ability of odor-controlling, and giving off a fresh pine scent. Making a safe and clean environment for cats and the owners. And the litter is easy to clean.

Horse bedding: As a comfortable sterile bedding layer, pine pellets can neutralize odor and absorbing moisture on contact. The stall will be clean, dry and odor free. There will also be a reduction in the volume of waste materials generated – up to 50%, creating a higher quality compost product. Each pellet can absorb almost four times its weight in liquid.

Advantages Of Pine Wood Pellets

Pine wood pellets has high calorific value, about 9600 btu/lb. Low moisture content, less than 10%. Long burning time and high combustion efficiency.

Pine wood pellets release little smoke during combustion. After burning, pine wood pellets only have 0.5% ash content left, which can serve as fertilizer in your garden or on your farm.

Pine is a kind of softwood. Softwood contains more lignin and higher calorific value than hardwood. Lignin plays a role of natural binder in wood pellet production. Softwood produce 10-20% more BTU than hardwood and less ash.

Using pine pellets for heating or cooking is much cheaper than oil, and cleaner than coals.

Pine wood pellets has uniform sizes and high density, convenient for transportation, handling, and use.

How To Distinguish The Quality Of Pine Wood Pellets?

Put the wood pellets in a container with water. Usually, wood pellets will dissolve in water. We can identify the pine wood pellet quality by the dissolve degree of wood pellets.

Pure pine wood pellets dissolve quickly in water, emitting distinctive pine aroma. The dissolved pellets feel pasty, with no impurities.

Impure pine wood pellets dissolve slowly, with clear lumps and impurities. The dissolved pellets feel crude, with little pine aroma. Watching carefully, you can find some sand grains and non-combustible substance.

Impure pine pellets burns insufficiently in boilers. The heat value cannot reach the standard. The coking is severe, and even burn out the boiler. Although the price is low, these wood pellets are not economical.
